Agenda:
Introduction:
A call to protect our homes and community.
Featured Speakers:
County Commissioner Steven Schetrom
County Planner Melissa Scott
Linda Peters, Planning Commission Legislative Advisory Committee Member and Short Mountain Coalition Leader
John Rosato, Planning Commission Legislative Advisory Committee Member
The Issue:
We face the imminent threat of two state bills, SB 171 and HB 2459, backed by powerful industries.
These bills strip away our local ordinances, allowing companies to emit toxic pesticides and install massive wind turbines near our homes without our consent.
Call to Action:
We must unite to stop SB 171, which is currently fast-tracked for a floor vote in the Senate on Friday, January 12th. HB 2459, the "windmill bill," will follow soon. Other bills bills may follow that will harm our county.
We’ll discuss specific actions and messaging for our shared mission.
Take a Stand: These state bills threaten to dismantle the power of our county government to protect us, leaving residents without a voice in crucial decisions about our community.
Join us tonight to understand the issues, learn how to act, and collectively protect our homes, health, and community.
